Care Instructions

How to preserve your Anissa Martinez Art resin sculpture

Caring for Your Resin Art

Your Anissa Martinez Art piece is a handcrafted work of art designed to be enjoyed for years to come. With proper care and maintenance, your sculpture will retain its beauty and continue to evolve as a living artwork. These care instructions will help you preserve your piece.

Display & Environment

✓ Ideal Conditions

Display your piece in a climate-controlled environment with:

  • Temperature: 60-75°F (15-24°C)
  • Humidity: 30-50% (moderate humidity)
  • Away from direct sunlight or use UV-protective glass
  • Away from heat sources (radiators, fireplaces, vents)

✗ Avoid These Conditions

  • Prolonged direct sunlight (causes fading)
  • Extreme temperature fluctuations
  • Very dry environments (below 30% humidity)
  • High humidity environments (above 60%)
  • Damp basements or bathrooms
  • Kitchens with cooking fumes or steam

Cleaning Your Piece

Regular Dusting

Dust your piece gently with a soft, dry cloth (microfiber or cotton) every 2-4 weeks. Use light, gentle strokes to avoid scratching the surface. For hard-to-reach areas, use a soft-bristled brush or compressed air.

Gentle Cleaning

If your piece needs deeper cleaning:

  1. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth with distilled water only
  2. Gently wipe the surface
  3. Immediately dry with a clean, soft cloth
  4. Do not allow water to pool or sit on the surface

What NOT to Use

  • Harsh chemicals or solvents
  • Abrasive materials or scrubbing pads
  • Vinegar, alcohol, or acetone
  • Commercial cleaners or polishes
  • Excessive water or submersion

Handling Your Piece

When moving or handling your resin art:

  • Use both hands and support the piece from underneath
  • Avoid gripping edges or protruding areas
  • Place on a soft surface (cloth or cushion) when setting down
  • Never stack items on top of your piece
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes when moving between rooms

UV Protection & Light Exposure

Resin can be sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light, which may cause gradual color fading or yellowing over time. To protect your piece:

  • Display away from direct sunlight or windows
  • Use UV-protective glass or acrylic if displaying near windows
  • Consider using UV-filtering window film
  • Rotate the piece occasionally if it receives indirect light
  • Use soft, indirect lighting (lamps) for display

Note: Some color evolution is natural and adds character to your piece. Slight patina development is not a defect.

Storage & Relocation

If you need to store or relocate your piece:

  1. Wrap gently in acid-free tissue paper
  2. Place in a sturdy box with protective padding on all sides
  3. Store in a climate-controlled space (not attic, basement, or garage)
  4. Keep away from moisture, extreme heat, and direct sunlight
  5. Avoid stacking boxes on top of your piece
  6. Allow time to acclimate to room temperature before unwrapping

Natural Aging & Patina

Your resin art is a living material that evolves over time. Like fine wine or vintage leather, your piece may develop subtle changes:

Color Evolution

Slight color shifts or deepening of tones are natural and expected. This patina adds depth and character to your sculpture.

Surface Changes

Minor surface variations may become more pronounced over time. These are part of the natural aging process and enhance the artistic value of your piece.

Embrace the Journey

These changes are not defects — they are evidence that your piece is a genuine, handcrafted artwork that continues to evolve and tell its story.

Preventing Damage

To keep your piece in pristine condition:

  • Keep away from children and pets if fragile
  • Avoid placing near open flames or heat sources
  • Do not expose to water, rain, or outdoor elements
  • Avoid contact with sharp objects or rough surfaces
  • Keep away from areas with vibration (speakers, machinery)
  • Never use as a functional object (planter, container, etc.)

Repairs & Restoration

If your piece becomes damaged or requires restoration, please contact us before attempting any repairs. We may be able to provide guidance or recommend professional restoration services.

Do not attempt to repair your piece with adhesives, fillers, or other materials without consulting us first, as this may damage the artwork further.
